Oracle Fusion AI: What you need to know about your data security

If you’re evaluating Oracle Fusion AI for your organisation, one question matters most: where does my data go?

The answer is straightforward – your data stays within Oracle’s secure infrastructure. It’s never shared with other customers and it’s never sent to third-party AI providers. When you use generative AI features, they run inside Oracle – not somewhere external.

This isn’t just a feature, it’s the foundation of how Oracle built the system.

The core promise: your data stays yours

Oracle Fusion AI operates on a simple principle: complete isolation between customers.

Each organisation gets its own secure, partitioned environment. Your data, your AI models, your processing – all remain separate from every other customer. This separation is built into the architecture, not added later.

What this means in practice:

  • One customer’s data cannot be accessed by another. Your insights and recommendations are based on your data alone. No organisation’s information influences anyone else’s AI outcomes.
  • When Oracle trains machine learning models for classic AI features (predictions, anomalies, classifications), the training data is yours only. When you use generative AI, the system doesn’t pool your input with other customers to improve shared models.
  • Each customer trains their own models: No cross-customer training, no data pooling.

Where your data goes (and where it doesn’t)

The critical difference with Oracle Fusion AI is that processing happens inside Oracle’s cloud infrastructure.

Large language models (LLMs) run within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure: prompts are processed there, responses are generated there and everything stays within Oracle’s security boundary.

This is not true of all AI offerings. Some platforms send your data to external AI providers, which means your information leaves your organisation’s control. Oracle does not do this.

When you enter a prompt into Fusion AI, here's what happens:

Your request goes to the Fusion AI Platform:

The request is processed by language models hosted within Oracle’s infrastructure. The response is generated and it returns to your application. No step involves sending your data to ChatGPT, external APIs or any third-party AI services.

After processing, prompts and responses are not stored indefinitely:

They do not train shared models or persist in external systems.

For organisations with sovereign or regional compliance requirements, this matters more. Your data stays within your designated region – whether that’s Europe, a sovereign cloud environment or elsewhere. Oracle ensures AI processing routes only to approved locations, so there’s no unexpected data movement.

Built-in safety guardrails

Security goes beyond data isolation. Oracle built multiple layers of protection into AI responses.

Guardrails automatically detect and block:

  • Harmful or abusive language in AI outputs.
  • Prompts attempting to manipulate the system (prompt injection attacks).
  • Inappropriate content related to self-harm, extremism, fraud or exploitation.

These controls operate across all embedded AI features. You don’t configure them individually – they run by default.

Oracle also monitors AI quality. The system tracks whether responses are accurate, whether they make sense and whether they’re appropriate. If performance drops, automated systems flag issues and alert support teams.

 Governance and standards

Oracle aligns its AI services with recognised global standards.

This includes participation in Cloud Security Alliance frameworks, compliance with ISO standards for AI management systems, and regular security assessments and certifications.

For your organisation, this means:

  • AI services are developed under formal security and governance processes.
  • Controls are regularly tested and certified by external parties.
  • Industry standards guide how data is handled and protected.

If your industry has strict data residency rules (such as financial services, healthcare and government), this architecture simplifies compliance. Data doesn’t cross borders for AI processing – it stays where it should.

If you’re concerned about third-party data sharing or AI providers using your information to train shared models, those concerns don’t apply here.

 The bottom line

Oracle Fusion AI is not a third-party add-on – it’s built into the same cloud platform as your Fusion applications.

Your data remains under your control: processing happens within Oracle’s security boundary and safety checks operate automatically. Your organisation gets AI capabilities without compromising data isolation or compliance.

That’s the foundation. Everything else – performance, ease of use, business value – builds on top of that security.
